Chiropractic Services
Chiropractors are licensed healthcare professionals who primarily concentrate on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of spinal disorders and other mechanical conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractic care places a strong emphasis on the body’s ability to heal itself without employing surgery, drugs, or other medical measures. Many people struggle with chronic pain without knowing that a solution could be within reach. Chiropractic care in Thrive Chiropractic focuses on alleviating discomfort by correcting misalignments in the spine, which often are the root cause of various pains and ailments.
Our unique value lies in not just addressing symptoms, but restoring your body’s proper balance and function for long-term wellness. At Thrive Chiropractic, we use this philosophy to address countless health and wellness issues using a variety of approaches. Not all adjustment techniques use forceful movements, and your chiropractor can use a gentle approach, so you don’t miss out on the benefits of chiropractic care!
Modalities Offered
Pregnancy & Pediatric Care
When provided by a chiropractor with proper specialized training, chiropractic care has proven to be safe and effective for pregnant women as well as babies and young children. During pregnancy, chiropractic care has proven extremely helpful in the management of back, hip, and joint pain that goes hand in hand with carrying the extra weight of a baby. Pediatric chiropractic care includes treating young people for conditions that include headaches, sports injuries, poor immune response, allergies, asthma, ear pain, colic, sleep disturbances, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Manual Adjustment
The “classic” chiropractic treatment, manual adjustments are done by hand to perform a broad spectrum of coordinated contact movements. Manual adjustments may be used to address various patient health and wellness concerns. Applying direct pressure at specific points, we can dramatically improve the function of muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and other soft bodily tissues.
The Activator Method
This therapeutic approach requires the use of a specific hand-held tool called the “activator.” A spring-loaded, mechanical instrument, the activator aids in chiropractic adjustment by delivering a rapid, low-force impulse with extreme precision. An activator adjustment can accomplish many of the same benefits as a manual adjustment by improving the body’s alignment and helping with overall body function.
The Webster Technique
The Webster technique is a gentle chiropractic adjustment that aligns the pelvis and includes a soft tissue release of associated muscle groups. It allows the pelvis to function properly during pregnancy. The technique reduces soft tissue tension that may cause uterine torsion which allows for an ideal environment for the baby to grow and move. Webster technique is helpful in providing relief for common lower back and sciatic pains that pregnant women often experience.
Y-Strap Technique
The goal of the Y-strap technique is to create space between the vertebrae and alleviate pressure on spinal discs, nerves, and other spinal structures. As pressure is relieved, spinal flexibility will increase and muscle tension reduced. This technique uses a device called the Y-strap which is used with a gentle and controlled force to pull the patient’s head, creating a stretching effect on the spine. Y-strap decompression is not suitable for all patients, and your chiropractic will determine if you are a good candidate for this technique.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are described as hyperirritable spots in the skeletal muscle that this technique focuses detecting and releasing. They are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. In many cases, trigger points form as a result of trauma to the muscle fibers. These are areas within a muscle that cause pain and can refer pain into other parts of the body. We can perform ischemic compression to help alleviate myofascial trigger points.
Spinal Decompression
Using a traction table, we employ spinal decompression to gently stretch the spine. By altering the position and force placement of the spine, spinal decompression reduces pressure on the spinal discs (gel-like cushions that separate every vertebrae in the spine). This process can cause bulging and herniated discs to retract, which can relieve back pain, improve flexibility, and promote healing by moving nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to these discs.
Rehabilitation
In the wake of an injury or a surgical procedure, many people can benefit greatly from a targeted physical rehabilitation regimen. When patients come to us for rehabilitation, we will use a combination of adjustments and other modalities. For post-treatment care at home, we generally recommend a program of exercises to help in recovery from physical trauma and to rebuild former mobility and range of movement.
Corrective Exercises
Whether part of a prescribed physical rehabilitation program or for general preventative or restorative purposes, chiropractic exercises can be powerful complements to regular chiropractic office visits. The pelvic tilt and the supine bridge are just a couple of exercises that virtually anyone can do at home to improve their overall health and wellness. When you come to us for treatment, corrective exercises may be one way that your treatment continues outside of our office!

Therapeutic Ultrasound
There are many healthcare applications for ultrasound equipment, and chiropractic care is another! We employ therapeutic ultrasound therapy to relax muscles, alleviate inflammation, boost blood flow, speed the healing of injured tissue, and break down internal scar tissue that otherwise might limit mobility. Chiropractic ultrasound works by producing sound waves to produce vibrations that penetrate deep into the body to generate therapeutic heat.
Laser Therapy
As part of a comprehensive chiropractic care program, laser therapy has proven to be an effective way to manage pain for many patients. Using a targeted light spectrum, laser therapy helps to ease inflammation, encourage nerve regeneration, and generally speed the healing process for individuals who have suffered injuries or are living with chronic pain.
Electro-Muscle Stimulation
Otherwise known as e-stim, electro-muscle stimulation uses clinical electrical equipment that produces pulses that replicate the signals emanated by the neurons of the human nervous system. By directing mild electrical currents to specific nerves, e-stim produces muscle contractions that improve blood flow and promote tissue repair. Electrical stimulation is a powerful therapy that has also been used to block pain receptors and even restore the natural motor function of stroke victims with nervous system paralysis.
Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotic insoles may be used to address any number of health concerns. These devices are made to fit the unique contours of each patient’s feet, providing support to reduce strain during specific repetitive motions. In addition to preventing foot abnormalities such as pressure ulcers, custom orthotics are excellent for people who suffer from arthritis or workers who must stand for long periods of time throughout the day.

Massage Therapy
Different from an ordinary massage that you may get at a spa, chiropractic massage therapy concentrates on the way the spine relates to the various joints, nerves, and muscles of the body. By relieving and replacing misaligned spine joints (vertebral subluxations), massage therapy can alleviate pain and tension throughout the back and limbs while generally promoting excellent nervous system health.
Acupuncture
A practice of traditional Chinese medicine that dates back thousands of years, acupuncture involves the placement of extremely thin needles into the skin at various strategic body points. By stimulating the central nervous system, acupuncture is thought to release beneficial natural chemicals in the brain, spinal cord, and muscles. The reported benefits of acupuncture range from back pain and headache treatment to immune system fortification and the relief of allergies and digestive problems.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care
Pain Relief
Chiropractic adjustments hone in on the underlying causes of discomfort by adjusting the spine and fixing misalignments.
This method doesn’t just alleviate neck pain; it also tackles a variety of musculoskeletal issues that could lead to persistent discomfort. By getting your body back into proper alignment, patients often see a dramatic decrease in acute pain and significant improvements in their wellness.
Improved Mobility and Flexibility
Chiropractic care adjustments go beyond just offering relief from pain; they play a significant role in enhancing mobility and flexibility. The way we hold ourselves, our posture and alignment, are key factors determining our body’s freedom of movement.
Chiropractic methods directly address these aspects to ensure that every part of the body works together seamlessly. This treatment strategy not only eases discomfort but also boosts the body’s natural capability to move smoothly.
Enhanced Physical Performance
Highly active people and athletes often turn to chiropractic adjustments to enhance their performance. These adjustments are key in maintaining proper posture and boosting body functions crucial for competing at high levels.
Regular visits to a chiropractor play an important role in preventing injuries among athletes by keeping the body in top physical shape. A well-aligned spine contributes to better coordination and balance, fundamentals required in any sport.
Overall Wellness and Health
Regular chiropractic care, especially as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, can bring about significant improvements not only in physical condition but also in mental focus and lowering stress.
By making sure the spine and other joints are properly aligned, chiropractic adjustments help the body heal itself from different problems. This preventive approach to avoiding injuries makes chiropractic methods an essential part of maintaining lasting health and energy.
What to Expect During Your First Appointment
Initial Evaluation and Assessment
Your first visit will start with a comprehensive initial evaluation and assessment. Our practitioners dedicate time to understand your past health experiences, current physical state, and particular issues you’re facing.
We aim to identify any misalignments in the spine causing discomfort or limiting your movement. This step is essential for determining how they will proceed with your care to meet your unique needs.
Digital X-rays
After examination, your practitioner may utilize Digital X-ray to help identify or confirm issues, misalignments, and pain sources found or discussed in the physical examination. We want to pinpoint the root of the problem and understand serious spinal health concerns. On your second visit, your chiropractor will review your x-rays in detail with you to ensure that you understand where your spinal health is currently and where the chiropractor plans to take you through treatment.
Therapeutic Care
Next, our wide range of therapeutic services is utilized to ensure inflamed, sore, or tight soft tissue, muscles, and ligaments are treated to maximize the benefit of your chiropractic adjustment. We offer a wide range of therapies, and your chiropractor will often recommend one or more in addition to an adjustment for efficient and effective healing. This include but are not limited to Electro-Muscle Stimulation, Low Level Laser Therapy, Therapeutic Ultrasound, and Moist Heat or Ice.
Hands -On Chiropractic Adjustment
After investigating your health and spine to ensure proper care, an adjustment will be performed. Often the adjustment is performed on your spinal structure but sometimes we may individually evaluate other joints like shoulders, knees, or ankles etc. depending on your health signs and symptoms. Adjustments are commonly followed by a “popping” noise but the noise is not what indicates a proper adjustment, and it doesn’t cause pain. Patients often report the action of being adjusted “feels good”. If a patient is hesitant or new to chiropractic, we utilize more than one chiropractic technique and will ease you into the Hands-On adjustment based on your comfort-ability.
